FaithWriters Great Multitude Christian Daily Devotional – Accept Jesus as Savior
Don’t Fall! Grow! – Dale Buchanan
Devotional #34 in 2 Peter
“And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” (2 Peter 3:15-18 KJV)
All of 2 Peter is a warning against false teachers and teaching. Be alert to recognize false teachers who wrest, or twist, the Scriptures. Their teaching results in spiritual destruction to themselves and others. Since you have been warned, don’t be led away by their error. Be steadfast in your faith, not easily “carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men.” (Ephesians 4:14).
The antidote to this problem is to continually “grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Stay focused on Christ and His Word. Make His Word the authority, not false teachings. This Scripture says to GROW in GRACE AND in the KNOWLEDGE of our Lord. This is not just about learning Bible facts and teachings, but applying the Word and experiencing it in your life. Get to know Jesus in a personal relationship.
