Adversity and Affliction

Hospitals and doctor offices continue to seek higher standards in sanitizing. Prevention of patient and staff infections is high priority. It’s easy to forget how far we have come in health care. Movies remind us of past problems.

Surgical procedures during the War Between the States or Wild West days were dangerous. Many times outcomes were fatal. With little more than scalpel and trembling hands, doctors performed delicate operations. They washed hands and plunged instruments into a blazing fire to kill the germs.

The Lord uses fires of adversity to refine His children and burn away sins’ contamination.

And I will bring the third part through the fire,
Refine them as silver is refined,
And test them as gold is tested.
They will call on My name,
And I will answer them;
I will say, ‘They are My people,’
And they will say, ‘The Lord is my God (Zechariah 13:9 NASB).’”

We are tried and tested by fires of adversity and affliction.
