‘You called?’

I’m not among the rich or famous and have never had a maid or butler. Yet, I’ve seen enough movies to know the drill.

The lady of the house rings a bell and the servant rushes to give assistance.

‘You called?’

I wonder how many aspiring actors and actresses have taken rolls as butlers and maids. Standing erect they faced cameras and read their lines.

‘You called?’

Servants are at the beckoned call of their employers. When called, they’re expected to quickly respond.

At a very early age, Samuel needed to listen to the One who called him.

“Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’

And Samuel answered, ‘Speak, for Your servant hears (1 Samuel 3:10 NKJV).”

God still calls us by name. Will I hear?
