In His Image…

sky-690293_1280

I wonder; I mull the subject in question over in my cluttered mind.  SEPTEMBER 2014 002
What will my body be like after I die?

(1 Corinthians 15:42-52 KJV).
42 “So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (1 Corinthians 15:42-52 KJV).
God created Adam and Eve in his image; in rebellion, they sinned and tarnished that image. Once more, his children by adoption will bear his image.

Glory to his name!

Whoso? Meso!

life-is-beautiful-905867_1280

Whoso?  Meso!

For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD (Proverbs 8:35 KJV).”

I’m a bargain shopper; it makes my day when I find something I need at a low price.  When I found Jesus, I discovered that he had been what I needed most all along; I found life eternal.

Our lifetime relationship began with his gift of favour (grace).

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV).”

He keeps me securely in his hand. “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand (John 10:28 KJV).”

Finders, keepers!  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13 KJV).”

Mirror His Ways

rear-view-mirror-835085_1280

I am a stickler for requirements; when I began new jobs, I wanted to know what my SEPTEMBER 2014 002employer expected from me.  Pam is not a perfectionist; my clutter is proof positive.

Yet, when it comes to fulfilling responsibilities, I have tried to meet and exceed requirements.

What does the Master require of you and me?

“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God (Micah 6:8 KJV).”

Easy as 1-2-3?

No, but it is clear-cut. He seeks those who know his priorities.

Jehovah is just in his dealings with his people; he is merciful. Created in his image, we should mirror his ways.

Lest we become proud in our position, we are to humble ourselves in our walk of faith…

DIVERSIFY

mark-804940_1280

What is in your financial portfolio? Though we have no money invested in the Stock Market, my husband views the daily news reports. Knowingly, he assumes that what occurs at the top of the financial ladder will eventually affect each of us below. I have little interest in graphs or closing numbers; yet, I have picked up a buzzword, diversify.SEPTEMBER 2014 002

Okay, that seems rational; a person could lose his shirt if he or she puts all their money in stocks and bonds. If they also invest in gold and silver, they serve as a safeguard.

“The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver (Psalm 119:72 KJV.)”

The Psalmist wisely invested in his future; he placed his faith in the word and will of his heavenly Father. Scoffers might consider him naïve and laugh behind his back. His pockets may have been empty; that was of little concern. He held wealth beyond measure, was systematically storing up scripture within his heart for a rainy day. God would shower him with blessings!

ENTER HIS REST

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts.’
For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His (Hebrews 4:7b-10 NKJ).”

I can only imagine God’s rest after completing His creation work…SEPTEMBER 2014 002

I perceive Psalmist, King David’s rest, as conveyed through his words of Psalm 23.

I rejoice in Christ Jesus; He freed me from a salvation by works, inviting me to enter His rest.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJ).”

Father and Son

boat-703239_1280

The founder of a privately owned business often leaves the running of the enterprise to their son or sons. In the 1960’s,  Ennis and Sons Sunoco service station, was a well-respected business in the small neighborhood of Mycenae, NY.SEPTEMBER 2014 002

Both God the Father and God the Son are in the stilling of seas ministry. Troubled souls turn to them and enter the haven of rest.

He caused the storm to be still, So that the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad because they were quiet, So He guided them to their desired haven (Psalm 107:29-30 NAS).”

Jesus calms the sea; I can trust Him to calm me…

“When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing!” He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm. The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him (Matthew 8:23-27 NAS)?”

THE WAY OUT

labyrinth-159471_1280

I have never taken part in walks through complicated mazes.

I feel claustrophobic just contemplating such an adventure. The closest thing to a maze I can remember is dimly lit fun houses at Central NY field day events or at Suburban Park, a nearby amusement park.

I prefer to take a direct route out, especially from dark places back into familiar light.SEPTEMBER 2014 002

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light, who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy (1 Peter 2:9-10 NKJ).”

The shepherd of wandering lost sheep called me out of spiritual darkness. I took the direct route through the opened door.

“Then Jesus said to them again, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep (John 10:7 NKJ).”

TAKE NOTES!

note-376397_1280

Do you take notes during your pastor’s sermons? I’m a note taker from way back. I not only stay focused; I save valuable teaching for future meditations. Pastors use varied methods in the delivery of their messages; the changing of methods is of little consequence as long as the message remains founded upon scripture. SEPTEMBER 2014 002

I am a fan of three-point sermons…

If you take notes, jot down this scripture verse from a KJV,                        1 Peter 5:10.

Message Outline:
I. Stablish
II. Strengthen
III. Settle

“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect , stablish , strengthen , settle you (1 Peter 5:10 KJV).”

I’m flexible; I see a fourth point in the passage. I just might drop Stablish into second position and place Suffered in first place.

Keep pens and highlighters handy; take notes and hide God’s word in your heart. [Psalm 119:11]

1-2-3

1-2-3

1. One church member resigns him or herself to sittin’ in their self-assigned pew. At the conclusion of the worship hour, he or she exits the sanctuary unmoved by the pastor’s call to sacrifice and service.SEPTEMBER 2014 002

2. Another, in the same congregation hears and decides to volunteer, to start servin’ others in their congregation. If a brother or sister in God’s family has a need, they will reach out a helpin’ hand.

3. The 3rd hears and hurts. He or she grieves over the indifferent and lost and as the Lord leads, will be sowin’ seed unto salvation.

“But the one sown on the good ground—this is one who hears and understands the word, who does bear fruit and yields: some 100, some 60, some 30 times [what was sown] (Matthew 13:23 HCS).”

UNITY EXPERIENTIALLY

“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:1-3 NKJ).”

Are we, as Christ followers, making a diligent effort to guard cherished unity of the Spirit? Most of us never give unity a thought, or if we do, think it would mean forfeiting individuality.

We might better understand this passage when taken in by small bites.

Paul, though often a prisoner to Rome was willingly held captive by Christ. He felt a sense of urgency when addressing the church. Christ had called them to follow Him; they had answered His call to holiness and evangelism. In all endeavors, they were to be compassionate.

When will I experience unity of the Spirit?

Undoubtedly, I will know it experientially when tenderly bearing the burdens of my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Where might I discover unity of the Spirit?

The LORD safeguards such unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace…
