If my memory serves me, I believe there was both a book and movie titled “Call of the Wild.” Wilderness adventures make great stories but in reality, many people get lost in the wilderness when hiking. If they survive, they will undoubtedly have a story to tell but they will not likely describe the experience as an adventure.  If we embark on a spiritual wilderness journey and experience temptations, we should stay alert. The devil calls in the wilderness. (Matthew 4:1-11)

His call might surprise you; he quotes Scripture. “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: He will give His angels orders concerning you, and they will support you with their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone (Matthew 4:6b HCS).” His call can be tempting; it is always deceptive and deadly. Jesus though tempted did not sin or waver. “Jesus told him, ‘It is also written: Do not test the Lord your God (Matthew 4:7 HCS).”
